Summary

  • Resource progression is not strictly linear and depends on the biome and region
  • Resource nodes contain both raw materials and chances for rarer valuable loot
  • Higher rarity tools improve harvesting speed and provide bonuses
  • More harvesting professions are planned later during the alpha

Resources Availability

Over the past few weeks, ogression where each new area simply replaces the previous one with strictly “better” resources. we’ve been making solid progress on how resources are distributed throughout the world of Nexus Odyssey. One important thing we wanted to avoid was a perfectly linear pr

Instead, the world is being shaped around biomes and ecosystems. Some regions may contain a mix of low and high level resources living side by side, while others remain focused entirely on beginner gathering materials. Forests, swamp, rocky highlands, and plains all influence what players can discover there.

The goal is to make exploration feel more natural and less predictable, while giving each biome its own identity and purpose within the world.

Player Mining

This philosophy mostly applies to common, everyday resources. Some rarer materials will still be tied to very specific locations, climates, or environmental conditions. Certain resources may only appear deep within forests or near dangerous monsters. We want rare gathering discoveries to feel intentional and memorable rather than simply appearing everywhere once players reach a certain level.

Harvest Levels

Gathering professions such as Mining will feature their own progression system. As players increase their Mining level, they will gradually unlock access to stronger and rarer ore veins scattered throughout the world.

This progression is intended to create long-term goals for gatherers while encouraging players to revisit different regions of the world as their harvesting abilities improve. Leveling a profession will also allow players to mine and harvest resources faster, while unlocking access to more powerful tools that improve gathering efficiency.

Player Harvesting Weat

Loots

Each resource node will always provide its base material, but will also have a chance to yield rarer and more valuable secondary materials. This helps reward players with unexpected discoveries and crafting components that are harder to obtain.

We will share more information about the loot system soon.

Transformations and Interactions with Other Professions

Each base resource can also be processed at specialized workstations. For example, logs can be transformed into lumber at a woodworking station before being used to craft end products such as housing materials, equipment, consumables, and other advanced items.

This processing step helps create a more complete crafting chain, where gathering and refining resources both play an important role in the economy and progression systems.

Coming Next

We are also planning to expand the harvesting system further during the alpha. Additional gathering professions, such as Fishing, are planned for future updates alongside new tools and equipment with unique perks and bonuses.

We are also exploring profession upgrades beyond level 5, allowing players to continue specializing and improving their gathering capabilities over time.
